Are You An Asset Or Liability To Your Company? - Prelude

posted in Career, Working Smart, Using Law Of Attraction At Work, Online Survey, Are You Asset Or Liability |

Hey Folks,

After a short detour to talk about blogging, we are back again on “Using Law of Attraction At Work“.

What Is Next
There are literally thousands of good articles out there talking about how you can improve your work efficiency, work smarter, etc. So I won’t rewrite similar articles that I think you can find (I’ll trackback to them and share them with you on our positive article post - Every Tuesdays). What I will be covering instead is to let you understand what makes you an asset or a liability to your company!

I have been debating with myself for a couple of weeks now on whether I should cover this topic. I have been hesitating as it is a heavy (read “serious and dry”) topic and I am not sure if you would fall asleep reading them :P . But I have made up my mind to write them as I believe it is of benefit to all of you who are employees.

Topics To Be Covered
To make them readable and not too boring, I’ll break them down into shorter post and maybe add a cartoon to spice things up. The likely topics covered will be:

1) Understanding The Boss Mentality
2) Understanding The Effects Of Globalization And Outsourcing
3) Understanding The New Economy
4) Misconception of Key Performance Indicators, Promotions and Pay Increments
5) How To Be An Asset And Not A Liability

At the moment, I project that I can finish covering the topics in about 5 post but that may be shorten or lengthen as necessary. And key to that decision lies in your feedbacks. If the series is welcomed (measured by comments), I will post more and talk more about it. :)

How Is It Related
So what has this topic got to do with the Law of Attraction?

If you have been following my blog for some time, you will know that I advocate that the Law of Attraction starts with “understanding” (understanding your thoughts, goals, situation, feelings, etc).

To use the Law of Attraction effectively at work means that you need to understand your working environment, your boss’s and company’s mentality. If you don’t have a clear understanding of them then your goals would become aimless goals because they may not help you achieve what you want.

I would reckon that most employees don’t know their bosses or their company unless of course you have operated a similar company yourself or have the benefit of learning directly from your boss. For me, I had the privilege of meeting with top bosses and understanding what is important to them in an employee and I share them with you here.

I do prefer short post just like this articles.

I think we should more focus understand the boss mentality. If you don’t understand what they thinking about then any idea you wanted to provide to him/her, the possibility of reject will be 70%

    Hi James,

Not exactly related to your current post but saw your PS and am so envious that you (& Karen too??) will be attending the seminar tomorrow. Well … my hubby is attending and thus, I am home with the kids. No maid by the way in case you are wondering and nope, mom and MIL ‘cannot’ look after them overnight without either one of us around. Hmmm … will have to learn on how to use Law of Attraction to visualize that I will be attending future such seminars with hubby together.

    Cheers and enjoy yourself tomorrow,
    LT

P/S too : Changed my name from ‘Justme’ to ‘TwinkleStar’ when I joined the BlogLog :P

    Hey Louiss,

    Preference noted with Thanks :)

You are quite right about that. And actually the whole series is about understanding the boss mentality. Topics 2-4 are factors that influence the boss mentality heavily and sometimes not verbalized to staffs directly. So I thought I should cover them.

Really appreciate your feedback, keep them coming :)

    Cheers

    Hi James,
Hope you can finish your project on time :D
I will keep track with you post

    Hey LT,

Yes with Karen. We are fortunate that the seminar is held here in Singapore. I will be up in KL for a week for another seminar, that I’ll be attending alone.

You can always attract your mom or MIL to take care of them overnight. First, understand why they are not in favor of it then work things out from there. Actively addressing their concern is the key to getting their cooperation and don’t think negatively when you are on the subject - it shows. :P

If it is just about attending seminars with your hubby, I think there are plenty of chances and one day you will surely be able to do it, probably earlier then you think :)

    Hi James,

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely keep the positivity high now that I am beginning to understand Law of Attraction just a little bit. :P

As for the length of the article, I do agree to keep it short so that readers do not lose focus.

I have always been in the employee group and dealt with many bosses before. And you are absolutely right, understanding the bosses mentality and style is important and key to your success in the company.

Pls do keep up the good articles … I am definitely learning heaps from this site. I am just totally amazed with the amount of energy you both put in to write the articles. Kudos !

    Cheers, LT

Law of attraction does not come naturally it is generally developed over a long period of time

    Hi Pete,

I believe the time taken is proportional to how much we are in alignment to the universe.

  18. 18 On September 11th, 2007, JamesKaren said:

    Hey Pete,

I disagree. Law of Attraction works flawlessly, it’s only a matter of what was attracted.

You have probably hear the saying “Birds of feather flocks together”, thats law of attraction. It is so natural that most people don’t realize it. :P

But learning to use Law of Attraction to consciously attract the good things or more accurately, the things you want will need some practice and it does take time. How much time you will need depends largely on the results you experience. Positive results reinforce your beliefs which will shorten the time. Negative results may cause the person to give up prematurely and returns to square one.
