Are Personal Development Stuffs Important?

posted in Stephen Pierce, Self Improvement, Success, Success Leaves Traces, Attitude, UYMG, Successful Mindset |

Hey Folks,

Success Leaves TracesWhich Way Would You Choose
What does the term “Success Leaves Traces” mean to you? To most people I know, it means following that successful persons footstep. To most of the participants at UYMG (the internet marketing seminar by Stephen Pierce, just concluded at KL, Malaysia), it means finding that success blue print which brought the speakers to fame. But are those really whats left by success?

I don’t think so.

What Are Those Traces
If you haven’t notice, most successful people don’t become successful from a single identical plan. Well, some of them do to but the majority had their claim to success following vastly different paths. In my opinion, whatever success blue print or plan that brought them to fame are just a by product of something common among them and at a very basic level.

I firmly believe that common thing is called Mindset. All successful people have a Mindset geared towards success and they build their mindset over the years by investing in something known as Personal Development.

Think about it. In our thousands of years of recorded history, there are untold numbers of successful people and I dare say all of them have a different route to success (most common being literature and warfare prior to the industrial age and there was definitely no internet back then). But if you get a chance to read their life stories or whatever account that is left behind, you will definitely notice that they have strong characters and a mindset geared towards success.

Do You Believe In Personal Development
So do you believe in Personal Development now? I do!

But many participants at UYMG don’t. Why do I say that? Because as soon as a speaker starts talking about personal development stuffs, they fall asleep or start doing their stuff on their notebook. It’s quite obvious that they don’t believe in the importance of Personal Development.

Shame on them. I hope they realize it sooner rather then later if they ever wanted a chance at success.

More Evidence That Personal Development Is Important
They may not have realized it but Stephen begins each day of the seminar with a video that relates a success story that was meant to train their mindset. He devoted his entire opening on his first day training the participants mindset. Next, he arranges for 3 personal development coaches to share about different aspects of self improvement over the next 3 days.

If personal development is not important, would a successful internet marketer like Stephen Pierce bother spending a good part of his seminar teaching it? Absolutely not!

What Can You Do
So what can you do invest in your Mindset? Simple and here are some of them:

1) Read more Self Improvement books.
2) Read Biographies of Successful People.
3) Visit more Self Improvement Sites (such as ours).
4) Get yourself a mentor.

Why don’t you gain those experience naturally over the course of your journey? Real simple again, each of those 4 methods contains years and years of experience condensed into something you can read in hours or minutes (if you speed read). Your time is your most precious asset. Don’t waste it.

What’s Your Take
So do you believe in training your mindset and investing in Personal Development? Tell me about it.

Cheers
James

I did feel a little bit disappointed when I see the attitude of the attendees.

But, since I am aware that disappointment is a negative emotion and the Law of Attraction works all the time, I choose to turn the disappointment into gratitude.

I’m grateful that I’m not one of them. ;)

    You mention 4 ways a person can invest in personal development;

    1) Read more Self Improvement books.
    2) Read Biographies of Successful People.
    3) Visit more Self Improvement Sites (such as ours).
    4) Get yourself a mentor.

I would agree with each of these but also I’d like to point out that each has their limitations.
    1) Reading Self Improvement books can be useful and informative but only if you practise the methods outlined in the book. Othrwise you may be increasing your knowledge but not necessarily andything else.
    2) Reading the biographies of successful people may be interesting, even inspiring, but reading about the success of other people does not necessarily bring success for you, even if you practise the approaches/methods used by the other people.
3)Visiting more self improvement websites can be useful or interesting in that you can get new insights and interact with like-minded people but does not necessarily lead to self-improvement.
    4) A mentor will tell you what to do (maybe a coach would be better) but is that really what you want?

    Hey Douglas,

Thanks for taking the time to pen your thoughts :)

All the 4 ways are by no means a miracle pill that will suddenly expand a persons mindset to match the level of a successful person but it is a starting point. It is important that whatever knowledge gain is put into practice and keep doing whatever works to advance your goal and dreams.

As every person will be following a unique path, each person will have to determine what works for them. Reading up on other successful people’s experience expands your options when you are at a crossroad and that in itself is priceless.

Investing in personal development may not guarantee that you will be successful but not investing in it will guarantee that you are less likely to be successful then one who does. :)

We build houses (take active part in self development) as we are young, but when the autumn comes, other thoughts come to guests. Whom do we leave our harvest?
The post Farewell has appeared on the blog Candleday yesterday. That is the blog of the disabled. Most of you are the healthy, and I wholeheartedly rejoice over that, but all we will become the retired one day in spite of all attractiveness of the youth.
The life will arise in the new light then. And this may happen already today

    Wow Tomas,

You sure are poetic today :)

But I’m having a mental block today and none of my thoughts are coming straight. I’ll read your comment again tomorrow to see if I can decipher it :)

I agree with your views. I also believe that your 4 suggestions
for personal developments are good tools for improvement.

I think One unspoken item though, would make all the 4 a smash hit.

    * Honing our strengths, Putting into practice what we learned and
    mastering the craft..

This is a given but it just needs to be specified in order to close
    the loop.

Most people often connect success with money, well, that’s what we
want but I don’t think that money is the only measure of true success.
(this is just an unsolicited opinion not related to your article)

    My thumbs up for you.

    Thanks.

I absolutely believe in personal development, and expanding our mind through experience and education. The only thing I would add, aside from reading, and following a mentor, is taking time outs to think for yourself and come up to your own unique conclusions. That’s what will make you the next great thing!
