The Secret - Practicing Success
posted in Law of Attraction, Stephen Pierce, Self Improvement, Great Mentors, Success |Yesterday I share my way of defining success. Which is:
“Success is getting better then yourself each day” - Stephen Pierce
So how do I know that it will work? Easy, because I tried and it worked!
A little history …. how many of you who do not like to exercise, tried picking up the habit of exercising? Probably more than a handful (you know who you are *wink*). I personally did it a few times. Why a few time? Cos I never made it past the aches and more importantly, I never had any success, or so I thought.
My past effort typically goes something like this:
1) I set a goal, such as “I have completed the 2.4km run in 12 min 30 sec on ddmmyyyy”
2) First jogging session, I did not complete the run because I ran too fast. I say, “damn, too fast.”
3) Second jogging session, I ran slower and completed in over 17 min. I say, “Should have ran faster?”
4) Third jogging session, I tried to run faster and did not complete the run because my legs were plain tired. I say, “Too fast again.”
5) I gave up after a few more jobs which basically repeats step 2 to 4.
So what is the problem? Problem for me, at least, was the perspective itself. I do not feel happy after each session. I felt that I had not accomplished anything, I did not feel that I was any nearer to the goal. I felt that way because I had viewed success only if I met the goal I set, only if I met the goal others set for me.
After adopting the new view of success, my jogging sessions went like this:
1) I set a goal, such as “I have completed the 2.4km run in 12 min 30 sec on ddmmyyyy”
2) First jogging session, I did not complete the run because I ran too fast. I say “Ok, at least I ran.”
3) Second jogging session, I ran slower and completed in over 17 min. I say “Not bad, I completed 2.4km”
4) Third jogging session, I tried to run faster and did not complete the run because my legs were plain tired. “Not too bad, I ran 3 times this week!”
5) And I carried on running 3 times a week and the improvement shows!!
Now, I could completed 8km runs. Do a relaxed 2.4km just over 13 min. I am happy even when I had not met the ultimate goal that I always wanted to achieve. Because I was better then myself the day/week/month before. I rejoice because I was improving everyday. When I feel happy, I am motivated and I wanted more, thought more about it, dreamed more about it, visualize more of it. And just like they say in “The Secret” - The universe conspires to help you get what you want!
So how does “The universe conspires to help you get what you want!”? That’s my topic tomorrow.
Stay Tune!
Love,
James
