Sharing An Inspiration on Britain’s Got Talent (Part 3)

I like to congratulate those readers for taking action to share with me some of their talents.

In my last post, I wrote about the new reality show ‘ Britain’s got talent’ inspired me to tell everyone that we all are born with a talent in life. It is god’s gift to us. I too have a talent since secondary school days but I only discover it in my 30s.

During school days, I could easily spot moments when my friends are bothered by unhappy matters. Although my friends did not tell me what is bothering them, but I could simply “feel” that they are unhappy today. It is kind of intuition within me that picks people feelings, whether the feelings are positive or negative.

When I ask my friends what is bothering them, they could tell me their issues comfortably. This applies to new friends whom I may only know for a short period. I have the ability to summarize their issues and give them an objective view how they can possibly handle this problem.

Immediately my friends see a light at the tunnel and they tell me that ” I feel so good after talking to you. I know how to proceed now. Thank you so much. I should have talked to you earlier”. When I am deciding my education path, it came to my conscious mind that I can take up degree courses in Psycology or Social Work.

At that stage, I have not realized I have a talent. I only knew that I have an accurate ‘ sixth sense’ about humans and I am able to counsel/ guide them back to their correct path. However, I did not choose a course to develop my talent as my mum was not supportive of the course due to the career prospects in Singapore.

In the end, I enrolled into Accountancy. I studied Accountancy for 3 years. After graduation, I worked as an Auditor and worked my career path from an Accountanct to a Finance Manager and finally become a Financial Controller. For a total of 10 years, I have spent in development my skills in managing figures and data.

Due to my talents, I have managed relationships with colleagues very well. Again, I see the same trend happen - My intuition tells me when I feel a colleague is having a personal problem. I may pose my question gently and my colleagues often feel so comfortable that they share with me what is bothering them.

Just like 6 yr old Conny who has a talent in singing, I have the healer abilities to be success coach. What make me realize this ability is I met an alternative healing teacher and he told me I am a healer. At that time, I literally took ‘healer’ as a practitioner in alternative medicine and I remembered telling him that ” I am not interested in alternative medicine profession’.

My first self-development in my talents began in 2004 when I joined a network marketing company. As a networker, I enjoy talking to people about their dreams and goals. It excites me to find that people want to take actions towards their goals. Most importantly, I feel that if I can successfully move someone from searching to taking action in joining the opportunity, I am 1 step away being successful in personal development.

However life has not been a bed of roses for me. I could not make a success in network marketing after trying for 1 yr. In the end, I quit.

Yes, I admit my defeat in network marketing and quit. That is a big blow to my ego. I ask myself “What happen to my dreams”? How can I show people that they can achieve success when I am a quitter?

Just like an a question my dear friend asked me:-

“I fear that I would lose the passion of my dreams again after a few years. So the question that I hope you can answer is, how do you keep the passion alive? How do you prevent situations and people from snuffling out this flame of passion that you’re trying to keep burning? I’ve come to the point where I don’t dare to tell people of my dreams anymore, for fear of changing again and again.”Have you ever felt the same way too? How do you overcome your disappointment and keep your passion alive?

I too have experienced this internal struggle that I do not have the ability to live my dream. I asked James this question several times:”Maybe we are just not cut to be entrepreneurs. Maybe you should just go back to find a job and let us go back to an ordinary life”

It is a tough to admit defeat, but we managed to pull through the ordeal and saw results in our life. This all happened because of a shift in our thought….

What exactly is this shift in thought that allows James and I to carry working towards our dream Come back tomorrow because I want to share with you something very powerful that will blow your mind away!

Hugs, Karen
