9 Secret Steps To Life Transformation: How To Keep Your Dreams Alive (Part 3)

Hi Folks,

In the last post, we talk about keeping your dreams alive using “Visualization Method”. Today, we will talk about “Realization Method”. So what is “Realization Method”? Have you heard of these concepts: “Live Your Dreams” or “Fake it until you are successful”?

I came across programs that proposed that if your goal is a dream house or dream car. Buy it! Live it! Your debt will drive you so hard that you will reach your goal in no time! I DON’T buy the idea but then again, it works for some people. I don’t like it because the consequences is too great and you are living beyond your means by doing that!

However, I do subscribe to “Live Your Dreams” or “Fake it until you are successful” in an alternative way, a less drastic approach.

I proposed that if you want to immerse yourself in the feeling of living in your dream home or drive that dream car, find it and RENT it (for a month or 2 if possible). What’s important here is feeling the exciting moments living in your dreams. It will serve as the source of your feelings in your future visualization process.

How about a dream of living a certain lifestyle, can we use this “Realization Method”? Of course, it’s a perfect fit! Karen and myself use this method frequently and here’s an example:

“We had a dream of living in a carefree lifestyle where money is not a problem and we can do whatever we like, however we like it. What we did was to source for some event similar to our dream. In this case, we selected a 3 day 2 night cruise aboard a luxury liner. All meals on the cruise was paid for and we got ourselves a 1st class cabin with balcony plus extra credits to spent. We also set aside an extra budget that would settle any bills that we may get ourselves into (such as visiting the spa for a relaxing massage) during the cruise pre-charged to my credit card. So there we have it, 3 days 2 nights, no money worries, do everything we like dream lifestyle!”

During the stay on the luxury liner, we took photos and videos and enjoyed our carefree lifestyle tremendously. We love the feeling and it served us well in visualization sessions after the cruise. Furthermore, the photos and videos could be made into vision boards and vision movies to bring back the feeling each and every time.

The benefits of this method is that the feeling is real, very very real, it is not an imagination. This is the most effective method I know to help people find the right feeling for their dreams and it will work for anyone. Even for those who told me they don’t know how to feel or what the feeling of achieving their dreams would be like.

So is there a downside to this method? Well, depending on your dreams/goal, you may find it impractical to use this method. For example, if my dream had been “I want to own a 15,000 square feet bungalow (in Singapore), renting it will probably cost me S$30,000 - $50,000 a month for a year, probably more! Buying it is definitely out of the question, for now. It will probably set me back S$10-15 million at least. Hence for this type of dream, I would choose to use “Visualization method” instead of “Realization Method”!

Oh and there is this last method, “Businessman Method”, that will work on huge dreams such as that bungalow dream I mentioned and I’ll share it in the next post. So stay tune, :).

Love,
James

PS: I was tied up with an interview, a brain storming session and a restructuring session for the whole of yesterday. Hence this post was delayed. So sorry about that.
