How To Overcome The 5 Degree Of Fear

Hey Folks,

This post was created as a result of an inspiration from the sharing of a good friend. Enjoy.

Overcome The 5 Degree Of Fear
Fear of Failure - If you have nothing to lose, why fear?

Fear of Failure 2 - If you have a little to lose, lose it and learn how not to fail next time.

Fear of Failure 3 - If you got a lot to lose, lose it too if you deem success more important than what you have to lose.

Fear of Failure 4 - If you have everything to lose, lose it too! Quote me a billionaire who has never lost before.

Fear of Success - It’s funny but true! Sometimes when you are so close to success, you fear that you will make it. Think about all that you have lost to get here and you WILL DO IT!

Learning Experience
Don’t get me wrong, I am not asking you to focus on losing. But all too much time, we hang on to a safety line (that’s the something that we have to lose if we fail).

Cutting this safety line means that you have to fight outside your comfort zone and that’s when you really have a chance to win, to succeed!

Cheers
James

PS: Incidentally, overcoming fear also overcomes most cases of procrastination! :)

Do You Care About Your Readers? - Food For Thought

Hey Folks,

As you may know, I am currently in Kuala Lumpur attending Stephen Pierce’s Leadership course and helping out with his Internet Marketing Seminar subsequently.

What Am I Doing In KL
He has been my mentor in Internet Marketing for the past 6 months (if you had read my “About Us” page, you will know :P ) and I have much to thank him for my success at getting this blog up, running and progressed as it had.

So one of my objective to travel here at my own expense is to reciprocate what I have gotten from him and to help other marketers succeed in their online endeavor. My way of saying “Thank You”.

What I Learned
Now, back to my topic today. What I am going to share here is a small part of what I learn from Stephen yesterday but it got me thinking the whole night. Although the context he was referring the topic to was more about leadership, I can’t help but link it back to blogging. The subject that I would like you to think about today is “Caring”.

Ask Yourself These Questions:

“Do You Care About Your Readers?”

“Have Your Actions Shown That You Care About Your Readers?”

“Have You Been Replying Your Readers Comments? Paying Them A Visit?”

“Have You Been Posting Articles Of Value To Them?”

“Have You Been Engaging In Too Much Marketing Activities At The Expense Of Your Readers?”

Why Is It Important
So why am I asking all these question? Because if you don’t care about your readers, no one would be hanging around long enough to care for you, trust you and become your reader.

Think about it. Share with me if you Care or Not. And Why? :)

Cheers
James

Have You Enjoyed Yourself Lately?

Hey Folks,

Blogging From Kuala LumpurMy Coach Seat
I am now surfing from my hotel’s internet room (free 24hr surfing, phew!) and I’m going to share with you something amazing that I did and felt yesterday while on my trip from Singapore to KL (Capital of Malaysia).

Background
A little about myself before we carry on: I am basically an analytical person, fast to spot crucial details and ever so critical. It’s a good strength while conducting business, analyzing plans and spotting opportunities but when it comes to relaxation, recreation and generally having some fun, it can be a pain.

Scenario
So here’s my story: I booked a first class coach that carried only 16 passenger, travels non-stop to destination, came with a message chair, personal entertainment system and even had a butler serving meals and coffee on board. So naturally I expected to enjoy the ride but these were my actual thoughts when I board and traveled for the first 60 mins:

1) The coach wasn’t that new.
2) The engines were a bit loud.
3) The message chair wasn’t the best.
4) The selection of movies, music, games wasn’t that great.

My Goal
Naturally I was a bit disappointed. I was skipping through a couple of concert selection on their personal entertainment system when I suddenly had a thought and I told myself:

“My goal from now till the end of the coach journey is to enjoy my trip.
I will enjoy the meal that is about to be served,
I will enjoy the entertainments, enjoy sitting in the chair,
enjoy the service and be happy!”

What I Did
To achieve that I will release from myself from these following thoughts for this duration and stop:

1) Analyzing
2) Being Critical
3) Focusing On Ways To Improve (Second nature, hard to abandon even when I wanted to)
4) Maintaining A Self Image (You can’t enjoy while maintaining any image)

Instead I focus on what is:

1) Enjoyable
2) Beautiful
3) Nice
4) Memorable
5) Touching
6) Heart Warming
7) Delicious
8) Sweet
9) Comfortable

The Results
With that goal set and preparations done, I had the best 4 hour journey I ever had in my entire life!

- I enjoyed the meal (simple 3 dish and rice served hot), which was served by the butler.
- I thoroughly enjoyed watching the concert by Taiwan girl group S.H.E in Hong Kong. They look so gorgeous and sounded so sweet.
- I forgot about the noisy engine as I indulged in the concert.
- I got a blanket and keep myself cosy throughout the trip (I told you I threw self image out the window :P)
- I enjoy the coffee that was served at Tea Time.
- I watch a touching Japanese show called Yamato but missed the ending as we reached our destination. Very touching show.

Did I enjoy the trip in the end? ABSOLUTELY!

What Actually Happened
So what changed? Perspective.

How did I change it? I set a goal to Enjoy The Trip And Make Myself Happy.

What action did I take to achieve my goal? I removed the thoughts that was preventing me from enjoying the trip and hence be happy about it.

Was it difficult? Absolutely NOT! Once I identify the problem, it took only a second take action and throw away the unwanted thoughts.

So folks, if you ever need to enjoy yourself fully, you can follow the same process and I bet you will enjoy like you never enjoy before. :)

Cheers
James From KL.

PS: I could not totally throw out “Looking for ways to improve” as it has become a second nature for me. But I did minimized it to a little corner of my mind like you would minimized a window on your desktop :P

PSS: If you hadn’t notice by now, this is the Goal Setting Process for Practicing Gratitude :P

Gaining Practical Knowledge In 4 Simple Steps

Hey Folks,

UYMG MalaysiaAs some of you may know, I’ll heading up north to Kuala Lumpur (Capital of Malaysia) for 1 week to attend a leadership course by Stephen Pierce and to help out with his Internet Marketing Seminar called UYMG (Unleashed Your Marketing Genius).

I’ll still be posting on my regular days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday) but my activities at social networking sites may have to be toned down :). Just in case if any of you, my readers, are going for the same event or some other events over the weekend. I have some simple, practical and very powerful tips for you to get the best out of that seminar you are attending.

Getting The Best From Seminars
Note that I mentioned best (as in best for you) and not the most! Too many seminar participants tend to focus on “Getting The Most” for their money spent. The commonly end up with Information Overload right after the event. They feel the high of “absorbing” the huge amount of information but are confused on which is relevant and important! Consequently, there is a lack of action for some even if they wanted to take action. 3 weeks down the road, most of the information gained will be lost.

In 4 Simple Steps
What I am going to share is my style of learning from Seminars. So can gain practical knowledge and tangible benefits from seminars in 4 simple steps!:

1) Know yourself, Evaluate your current knowledge and the gaps
Everyone has a different level competency and knowledge given a certain subject. Hence, everyone will gain a different experience from any given seminar. You could learn more by knowing where you stand and understanding what you lack.

2) Focus on filling the gaps at the seminar
What’s the point of learning something advance if you don’t know the foundation that it is built upon? A metaphor would be “What’s the point of knowing what’s across the river if you have no means to cross it and take advantage of them?” Focus on filling the gap first then you will have a real chance of learning those advance stuffs! Metaphorically speaking, that’s what I call it “building the bridge”!

3) Integrate the knowledge gained and turn them into activities you can action upon
Once you gain those “bridge building” experience, you will need to translate them into actionable items, activities or a to-do-list so you can take action upon it.

4) Drill the knowledge into your subconsciousness
Now you need to take massive action on these activities immediately. Why?

Firstly, any knowledge gain that is not action upon will be lost over time. Taking action is a way of reinforcing the ideas into our subconsciousness. Once it is drilled in, it will stay there forever until you reprogram it.

Secondly, No action equals no result, which amounts to nothing! So why attend the seminar in the first place?

Conclusion
With these method, I always gained something practical out of every seminar that I attend and I don’t forget them since I had drilled it into my subconsciousness. So if you have in the past been suffering from information overload or “leaking” knowledge, try this method. Oh … Just in case you have not notice, the 4 steps are actual steps of a goal setting exercise I used to set goals when attending a seminar. :)

Cheers
James

11 Areas Of Your Life Where Goal Settings Is Valuable

Hey Folks,

In the recent weeks, we have been talking about career planning and sharing a free goal-setting tool in the last couple of days. I would like to share with you 11 areas of your life that you can set goals and see how it gives a new meaning to your life and improves it immediately. The 11 areas are:

Personal Life
People with goals and dreams in life tend to be happier as they know what to look forward to, what are they currently busy with and how it contributes to their goals and in general have a direction. It is the goals they set that gave the meaning of life to their personal life.

Studies
Having a goal and plan your studies around it not only allow you to attain the results you want but also prevent you from overloading yourself from studies. Over study is almost as bad as not studying and can cause nervous breakdowns in the extreme case.

Career
Employees with a strong set of career goals tend to perform at extra ordinary levels at work. It’s not that they are super beings; it’s just that they know that whatever they do, they do it for a purpose. Whatever hardship and tough times are there to training them and give them the experience to handle even bigger responsibilities. Hence, they also complain less and return a higher value to the company then they were paid for.

That is the real reason why they can make phenomenal progress at work given the same training, same number of working hours and same set of work to do.

Relationship
When you enter a relationship without a goal, it will end when the first problem surfaces. That’s what happened to my first relationship. I had a goal for my second one and now we are a family and we planning ahead for retirement.

Have a long term goal when you enter a relationship helps you to look beyond imperfections and find the balance necessary for long term relationship and a real chance to settle down.

Family
Every family is made up of at least 6 people. You and your spouse, your parents and your in-laws. If you thought relationship during courtship years were tough and dynamic, wait till you try family. It gets more dynamic after you factor in different customs, extended family members and finally kids!

My long-term goal for my family was for everyone to be happy with each other and to love one another. So far, so good.

Dream Home
Having clear goals when you look for your dream home will allow you to focus on what is important to you in your dream home and make you less likely to be distracted by a “nice to have” feature which is, well, nice to have but is not important to you. If you do not have a clear goal in mind, you will likely be muttering this a lot later, “Why didn’t I think of that?” or “Why did I buy this?”

It will happen even more often when you shop for the renovation for your brand new home.

Dream Car
Similar to Dream Home, except the whole car might be wrong!

Holiday
When planning for a holiday trip, know what you are holidaying for? For a relaxation, go for a cruise not a package tour. For shopping spree, don’t go Tibet! You get the drift, right?

Business
A million and one websites have talked about this. So I’ll go straight to the point. A business without a goal or dream is just replacement work. 10 year down the road, your business will still be the same size as before. If you can’t dream up a dream, don’t start a business.

Seminars & Trainings
Going for Seminars and Training without know what you want to get out of it is a pure waste of money. Without a goal to focus you in the seminar, you will never retain anything beneficial from it 3 months down the road.

Investments
Trying to do investment without a clear goal or objective will lead to greed which will ultimately lead to loses. Have a goal will force you to plan and adopt a profitable strategy that will earn you the returns to meet your goals and objectives.

If you think there are any other areas which I left out, please fill free to mention them :)

Cheers
James
