9 Secret Steps To Life Transformation: Bury The Procrastination Monster

Hey Folks,

In my last post, I share that at one point of my life or another, procrastination took different forms and challenged my will to be successful. Sometimes it wins, sometimes I do. Today, I win most of the encounters but I still need to consistently remind myself of this dangerous monster in order to defeat it. So here’s my secret weapons:

Just Do It

1) Failure is the mother of all success - I do it “Nike’s way“, yes, that’s right - “JUST DO IT“. If I have to do it sooner or later and I have no idea how to do it better, I will just do it now and be prepared to learn from it. So that the next time I have to do the same thing, I’ll be able to do better.

2) Make it so painful you just have to do something about it - I have known friends who takes 50% pay cut from his job to motivate themselves to work harder with their side business. The pain that followed was too great and too real due to the lost of income which made him work his side business harder and smarter then before using the extra time gain from his job since he now works on alternate days.

3) Just be good enough to get the job done - I set specific goals and specific time frame for each goal. It really helps to eliminate the habit of perfecting everything. If there is time, I’ll improve upon it. If the time is up and I have done well enough to proceed to the next goal, I’ll move on.

I admit that my methods may not be the most elegant way but hey, they work! :)

Oh, as for laziness …. well, I was born lazy or so I thought. I have been defeated by this one for more time then I care to remember but nowadays I have a buddy call OptiMINDzation which helps me bury my laziness more often then any other method I know of.

If you had known me long enough, you will know I am always bursting with energy but there are also times where I have low energy (a nice alternate name for being lazy). And when you are lazy, it is very hard to get out of being lazy, you simply cannot find enough energy to start doing something meaningful. So when I find myself in that state, I whip out my OptiMINDzation CD and listen to it. 30 minutes later, I’ll be doing whatever I need to be doing and the effects last the whole day. :)

So there you have it. All my secret weapons I use to bury the Procrastination Monster.

Do you have a better method or maybe just a different method that works equally work for you? Come on, share it with us by clicking here to comment.

Love,
James

PS: You can read another Review by Matt Morris, President of Success University, and see what he has to say about OptiMINDzation.

PSS: If you need to understand how listening to music can enhance your energy, improve your focus, etc and all the other mambo jumbo technical stuff. Check out our new link at the top called “Links and Resources” under “Brainwave Enhancement“. I don’t actually bother too much reading into the technical details as long as it works :)

Free And Easy Monday: Power Of Schmooze Award

Hi Folks,

This is the first “Free And Easy Monday” post where we can share about anything and everything related to the theme of this blog, to us, to my fellow bloggers and sometimes to anything under the sun. :)

James and I decided to schedule Monday’s post as such because in the past (if you have been following us), we could sometimes end up being a bit serious in our sharing (oh, we are a fun lot, notice the new series of comic strips) because we seriously (no pun intended) believe in helping others improve and succeed. But we also recognized that we need to go easy at times so we schedule Monday to be the day we relaxed.

So if you love us being serious or simply love reading our positivity post, they are posted on every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday of the week. On Monday, we go easy and talk about everything else. So here’s the first Easy Post:

Schmooze Award

Karen’s had been given “The Power of Schmooze Award” by our good friend Lisa (http://40ssingleness-thesecret.blogspot.com/). The award was created by Mike and you can read more about the award here. It’s a very faltering award and we are very honor by it.

So it is now our turn to nominate our choice of recipients for this award:

1) Susie (The Accidental Environmentalist)
2) Gabriel (Project Afterlight)
3) Steve (cymru66)
4) Jonathan (Smart Wealthy Rich)
5) Terence (Terence Chang - Blah Blah Blog)

If you have noticed that we did not include any unique reasons for each winner. Why? Because all of them, besides having the qualities required for winning the award, are very POSITIVE in nature :). Congratulations, folks.

That’s all for the first “Free And Easy Monday”! Cya next Monday and stay positive!

Loves and Hugs,
James & Karen

9 Secret Steps To Life Transformation: Do You Procrastinate

Hey Folks,

Have you been taking massive actions in moving towards your goal since my last post? If your answer is yes, that’s GREAT! If your answer is no, then you may have met the monster that eats success for supper and it’s name is PROCRASTINATION!

Procrastination

Do you like the cartoon? It depicts a mild form of procrastination but is procrastination nonetheless. In this instance, laziness is the root of procrastination.

So what are the other causes of procrastination? I have personally experience the following at one time or another:-

1) Fear Of Failure - This is very common among, well, everybody. I have never heard of anyone who wished upon themselves to be failures or to fail in everything they do. But being fearful of failing is probably the number one cause that prevents most people from moving forward!

2) Not Painful Enough - This is the most common among employees. Their job pays just well enough but never really enough. The work is just stressful enough but just a hairline below their breakpoint. The system they had to use is just frustrating enough but just barely good enough to still get their job done. Familiar? So why have they not done anything to improve their situation? Well, it was just not painful enough!

3) Striving for Perfection - This is a very common among professionals such as engineers, scientist, etc. Being good enough to meet their goal is never good enough. They need it to be perfect! I call that procrastination as it hinders their progress towards their goal in an efficient manner!

Even today, I have to be mindful that they still exist in my life and I have to stay vigilant against them. I’ll share my secret weapons against my 3 incarnations of procrastination in my next post.

But before I go, I’ll like to ask you:

“Do you procrastinate? If you do, What are the causes of procrastination for you?”

Till the next post on Wednesday (10th July 07), take care and don’t procrastinate!

Love,
James

9 Secret Steps To Life Transformation: Take Action

Hi Folks,

The response to my last post was fantastic! Thank You for all your kind comments. Today I will talk about taking action but we are doing it a bit differently. I will direct you to a post that I have written sometime ago and I will comment further on it.

Where is the Opportunities?

First post, I would like you to read this “The Secret - How Does The Universe Conspire To Help You?

In this post, I mentioned the concept that we only see what we tell our mind to see. We are unconscious to all the opportunities out there, around, surrounding us until we tell our mind “look, I need to find this”, only then is our mind opened to it and receives it. That is why you always hear these famous phrases “Open your mind and you will see the opportunities” and “Don’t be close minded”.

Why does our mind work that way? Well, I am not sure but I have 2 possible explanation. First, it is the bodies natural way of preventing information overload to the mind. Second, we are conditioned to be closed minded by our environment, studies, culture, etc.

Second post, I would like you to read this “The Secret - The Universe Do Not Help You Get What You Want!

When you see opportunities after opening your mind and your are competent enough to take advantage of it, that is when they say “I visualized and it came true”.

But what if your are not competent enough to take advantage of it? First, you will still see a lot of opportunities that will help you become competent but usually you have set your sight so high that you missed all the obvious ones right in front of you. That’s when you need the “Ladder of Dreams” to manage your goal setting and shift your focus back to the obvious opportunities. That’s when things start to become achievable and you will start to say “Geez, the universe does conspire to help me!”

Well, actually, you helped yourself :)

7 Free Lessons from the Teachers of The Secret

I would like to share another last post to re-emphasize the importance of taking action and there is a cool video on taking action too. Read this “Practicing Success - Nothing Equals Nothing“.

I know, I know. It’s a handful of reading and I hope you like it! If you find the post too long and wish they were shorter, do leave a comment and let me know too! Next post, I reveal a monster that stops success stone cold in it’s track. Don’t missed it! It’s on Sunday, 8th July. See Ya!

Love,
James
